Petty Threads started the way most questionable ideas do: with my wife and me making jokes we probably should have kept to ourselves.
We both have a dark sense of humor, and absolutely nothing is safe. Women’s rights, religion, the Second Amendment, personal freedom, politics, relationships—if people are passionate enough to argue about it, we have probably made a joke about it.
Over the years, we kept a running list of phrases, one-liners, and terrible ideas that felt destined for a T-shirt—or at least a rage-bait tweet capable of ruining Thanksgiving. Basically, whenever we came up with something funny enough to get you called into HR, we wrote it down and saved it.
Eventually, the list got too long to ignore, so we did the responsible thing and turned it into a clothing brand.
Everything at Petty Threads is satire. The slogans are deliberately exaggerated, occasionally offensive, and usually way more confident than they have any right to be. The point is to laugh at the absurdity, poke at uncomfortable subjects, and make shirts for people who know a joke can be inappropriate without being a manifesto.
We are not here to improve society. We are here to put the group-chat joke on a shirt and see who gets mad first.
